Tracking your Workouts with a Phone
![]()
Nokia Sports Tracker is an application that tracks your sport activities that runs on Nokia S60 smartphones with a bluetooth GPS device or with an integrated GPS (see below the full list of compatible devices).
The application records your position, speed, distance and pace. It has a training diary and can do some fancy graphics like the one shown above (speed vs. time).
Currently, the only way to see your recorded workouts on a map is to export them to Google Earth format (KML, which Sports Tracker does natively) and use Google Maps or Google Earth to visualize it.
Sports Tracker works with the following phone models: N71, N73, N75, N76, N80, N80ie, N91, N92, N93, N93i, N95, E50, E60, E61, E61i, E62, E65, E70, E90, 3250, 5500 Sport, 6290, 6110 Navigator.
The application can be downloaded for free from the following page: Nokia Sports Tracker
I don’t think a phone with a GPS receiver beats the Garmin Forerunner for training, but if you have one this application may come handy for those soft training sessions or for walking.

From the current options of distance tracking, nike+, forerunner style gps, or gps via bluetooth + phone and phone with gps included (ie nokia n95) my current preferred choice is forerunner stytle gps because its convenience. Even once the price for the nokia n95 drops the choice is going I think that a specifically designed device will continue the best option, as when you run you want fast access to your data and with a telephone is somewhat tricky.

I agree with you Xavier. The forerunner (or nike+ipod, or something else with a GPS pod) is definitively more convenient for sports training.
