Nike+ Your Run with the SportBand

Nike + Sportband

What’s the plus? Nike has introduced a line of shoes (Nike+ ready shoes) that are designed to operate with other equipment in order to deliver instant feedback on pace, distance, elapsed time, and calories burned as you run.

One option is to buy the Nike+ sensor and provide your own device, such as an iPhone 3GS. The other option is to pick up a Nike+ SportBand.

The SportBand resembles a wrist-watch and is available in two colors, with a one-size strap that features a stainless steel popper to provide custom fit. The SportBand includes the Nike+ sensor and a USB device (the Nike+ Link). The Nike+ Link does double duty as a watch, and it picks up, displays, and stores up to 30 hours of information from the Nike+ sensor, which you place in your Nike+ ready shoe. The Nike+ Link offers an enhanced display that’s both easy to read and water-resistant.

Once at home, connect the Nike+ Link to your computer and surf to nikeplus.com, which serves as database for you to store and analyze your workouts. Nikeplus.com is also a community of athletes, so it offers training tips and connections to other athletes for challenges and support.

The plus is turning your run, simply and economically, into a real workout, and transforming you from the lone runner into a supported athlete.
