Casio has a wide line of sport watches, from casual sports to full trekking machines with barometer, GPS and so on. This time the Japanese brand announces a GPS watch for runners, the GPR-100-1JR. This watch wants to compete directly with devices like the Garmin Forerunner, especially the 205 model.
The GPR-100-1JR has the following features, according to Watch Report (see links at the end of the post):
- Automatic time zone adjustment (via its GPS signal).
- Store up to 100 Points of Interest.
- Automatic electro-luminescent backlight.
- Water-resistant 50mt (165 ft).
- Chronometer (1/100th of a second).
- Data recording (up to 50 workouts).
- Pace verification.
- Countdown timer.
- Rechargeable battery (3 hours to recharge).
- Alarm.
- Small: 63.1mm x 49.5mm x 17.1mm
Two negative points: the battery, that lasts from 2 to 4.3 hours (compared to the 10 hours of the Forerunner), and the price which is set at 54.000 yen (about $467), much higher than the Forerunner’s.
