The Foot Pod for the Garmin Forerunner 305 is an accelerometer that allows you use your 305 indoors, where the GPS signal is unavailable. This way you’ll still be able to measure your distance, pace and calories burned.
The Foot Pod is a little device (2.9†x 1.6 †x 0.98 †– 73 mm x 41 mm x 25 mm) that weights only 40g and that you attach to your running shoe. It requires one AAA battery and offers 70 hours of use. It measures all the parameters of your foot stride, transforms them into speed and distance and sends the resulting data to the Forerunner via a wireless connection.
Its operation is very simple: the Forerunner detects the Foot Pod presence and asks you if you want to use it or use the built-in GPS. If you choose to use the Foot Pod the GPS is deactivated.
Unfortunately the Foot Pod is only compatible with the Forerunner 305 model.
