How many times have you seen this: your Camelbak reservoir spilling all the water and soaking all your backpack, including your last generation mobile phone. Your precious little digital camera swimming in you pocket because of the rain (that’s why you should have bought a waterproof digital camera, or a better coat!). Although this is not a gadget I highly recommend reading the article for two reasons:

1. Because we all need to take more care about our planet. This excerpt, for instance, has reminded me of all the junk I always see when I go to the mountains near my house:

The GlobalSat GH-615B is the new sports watch from GlobalStat that integrates a GPS receiver to record routes. This product is specifically aimed at hikers, runners, bikers, skiers, or any type of outdoor sports practitioner.

In many ways it’s similar to the Garmin Forerunner 205: size, technology used, price (with the Amazon discount), lack of heart rate monitor, and so on. See the comparison in the links section below.

MapMyFitness is a family of sites that you can use to share your workouts with others, view the evolution of your fitness training, use fitness calculators and tools and much more. At this moment there are five sites in the family, each aimed at a different sport/activity:

These types of mashup sites are emerging to provide more specialized services around mapping. What I like in this case is that, in addition to the mapping and fitness features, on each one of the sites you can find races/events, news and gear for the sport featured on the site.

I’ve recently written about the robust all-sports camera. The one presented here takes a different approach: a practical and quick operation.
